Your Hospital Stay

Admission to Kawana Private Hospital is initiated by your surgeon.

At the time of booking your procedure at the surgeon's rooms you will receive an admission form and patient information brochure.

So that we can prepare for your stay please complete the form and return ASAP. This can be via post in the self addressed and self stamped envelope which is provided.

Once your admission form has been received, we will contact you close to your operation date to inform you of the health fund approval (or if uninsured a quote for your procedure) and to confirm any further details.

On your day of surgery please make your way to level 2 at 5 Innovation Parkway, Birtinya. Our receptionists will be waiting to assist in the 'on the day' paperwork before the nurses meet with you. Our pre operative nurses will confirm your past medical and surgical history, provide you with some information about your care while you are with us and assist in preparing you for your procedure.

Post operatively you will wake up in the recovery unit and when feeling ready can have a drink and a snack if appropriate, at this time your carer/transport home will be contacted and provided with a time that you might be discharged. When you have spent adequate time in the recovery unit the recovery nurse will assess your progress and discuss with you about being discharged. Any discharge information from the surgeon will be provided and any questions you or your carer might have will be answered. There maybe medication to be picked up on the way home (there is a pharmacy downstairs).

If you are staying overnight with us then you will wake up in recovery but shortly afterwards be transferred to the ward. Once settled you can be provided with a light snack initially, if appropriate. Meals and refreshments are provided on an individual basis as you request.

Visitors hours are patient specific and are as directed by the patient and how they are recovering. You can contact the ward on 07 54139105 to enquire on a patient or to be put through to their phone.

In addition to providing our patients with the best care possible, a wide range of services are available to ensure the stay with us is a most comfortable experience. Gelee's Bistro located on the ground floor of the complex offers our patients meals to suit their needs and tastes. Being able to cater for individual requests allows for any special requirements our patients may have.

For those patients requiring internet access, this will be organized on request. Telephones are located to each bed, as are televisions. Personal mail will be delivered in the ward and the receptionists will arrange for posting of any outgoing mail. Lake Kawana Pharmacy is located on the ground floor of the complex.

While staying in the hospital consider a facial, massage or other beauty treatments.
